I'm a business owner,
creative director,
podcast host,
florist & mediocre
veggie gardener.
Nearly a decade ago I decided, with legit not one second of experience or knowledge, to start a flower business.
Why?
Because flowers brought me joy.
Newly married, our savings account had $550 dollars in it. I took out $500 and started Sweetwater on an old hand-me-down ping pong table in our basement. I'm self-taught, scrappy and have a serious case of Delusional Confidence.
Building a company from the ground up taught me how much I adore being an entrepreneur and since day one I've been committed to sharing the story of building our business, including the hard days & failures.
What I quickly realized was that the more authentically I shared my life, the more people seemed to connect with it.
Sweetwater, our flower-focused lifestyle brand, quickly grew into a seven-figure company.
Today we employ a full-time team of creative earth angels and we flower for events + weddings across the State of Michigan. Our home base, Northern Michigan is where we built the 'cutest flower shop in the world' in our favorite corner of the world, Walloon Lake.
Floristry wasn't a part of the plan and neither was business ownership.
I was born with a 'microphone in my hand' as my grandma likes to say and I followed my passion for storytelling into journalism school and eventually my *dream job* of being a TV reporter. But something in me kept pulling me towards something more creative and where I could let my light shine brighter...
So I left behind my literal dream job I had worked so hard for and dove full-time into business ownership. Bringing with me my "Focal. Filler, and Flair" (I even gave a TED talk about it!), delusional confidence & wicked home barista skills.
Today I'm committed to helping women realize that designing a life that truly fulfills you isn't necessarily one where you check all the boxes, but rather where you follow a passion, ditch the dirt & allow yourself to fully bloom.
Martyrdom, putting ourselves last, half-fulfilling
friendships & zero boundaries is so 2010.
When I'm not making soup all winter, driving a minivan filled with kids through the Culver's drive thru, or planning the next date night with my husband on the golf course - I'm here leading groups, teaching workshops, speaking to inspire you & creating courses + downloads to make your life easier and your business more profitable.
Thanks for reading my long winded Midwestern intro.
I'm honored you're here and honored you spent a bit of your time with me.
